I did not look over the link that was posted but I ran into this on my factory AC truck also.
I bought a core and had it for months before I got around to install and also found it was the wrong shape.
Because I had to use the truck and was still cold out so needed some heat.
I ended up removing all the foam seals and forced the core into the box just to use the truck.
I did find the right one on think Amazon and took a long time to get but was the right one.
IIRC the part numbers are different between what you can get in stores and the right one.
I have had it for months also and hope I can find it to get the PN from it.
I also think the right PN has been posted in the forums too.

i’m also going to order a new quick fuel carburetor for the truck since the old one has been given me some trouble. Maybe I can do a tutorial on the swap once I get completed and I’ll take some pictures.
This rounds out the maintenance I need to do on the truck for this year. Trying to get it ready for woodcutting season.
