I wanna pull out 7.3 and install a 460. Truck is 7.3, with 4 speed and is 4wd.... any thoughts ideas?
You need the engine of course. It will drop in if it's from a truck. A car engine will need some more components to make it fit.
You need different frame brackets for the motor mounts
Different bellhousing to mate the 460 to the 4 speed that you already have
You can stare at the diesel radiator and see if you can make it work. But it might be easer to get a 460 radiator. But you still will probably need to retro fit the 460 radiator into the diesel radiator core support.
A little bit of wiring.
A mechanical fuel pump on the engine or a external electric fuel pump.
A 7.3 diesel truck is going to be worth more, maybe a lot more, than a gas truck.
If it runs, sell or horse trade.
If it doesn't run, find out why and fix. Or sell as a non-runner.
The last thing is to swap in the 460. Too much stuff to change. Otherwise it's a hack job and will never be "right" let alone sellable
The truck has sentimental value more than street value. Old truCk i had in high school had a 460. Would like this one to also have. I cant stand diesel. Injector pump is out.
