Small Pin location

Found this on the floor and it could be from somewhere else, but want to make sure. Lost all my pics so...

Any idea?

2002 7.3...does it belong? LOL

Is this from an auto or manual truck? It could be one of the pins from the shift tube assy.

Edit: is it tapered? For some reason I'm thinking those are very slightly tapered.

I have nothing for you..
However, inquiring minds want to know.

I can't think of ANYTHING that would use it. Hell, I even tossed the factory filter housing in one piece
I guess we will see....
Where I'm at...

Oh, we're ***** deep in a rebuild. I was unaware. In that case it will likely be a line up pin for the rear engine cover or the flywheel/flexplate. At least that's how things like this play out in my world.

Oh, I don't think it goes to it after looking over everything...
The pins in the block for the adapter are bigger and present....and I'd have to be "special" to mix up it and the flexplate/spacer pin...

I figured if no one knows, odds are it fell in the box. I thought it was from a QudraJet or one of my old Holleys

Does anyone have an old oil pump laying around? Maybe an alignment pin that came out with old pump and came with the new one?

Driving me nuts...I remember one in the housing and one in the pump itself. I am thinking the pin stayed in the case so upon removal I had 2 pins and pulled them out. The new pump assembly was a loaded unit.

Gonna try and see if I can get to without pulling the balancer...I need to find this or y'all gonna find me in the crazy ward...hate being a perfectionist.

]Oh...and u want some serious penetrating oil, this is all I use...of course PB BLASTER for back up, just in case!..... https://www.safety-kleen.com/safety-...etrating%20oil

From RIFFRAFF page showing the pins in just beautiful detail, so very big thanks to him...

May have IDd the PIN

So whatcha think? At least Im sure they were in...why I doubt myself Ill never know....but it does make me thorough...

I swear the new pump had a staked pin in one ear...all because the S7 bricked. This pump came in the complete rebuild kit, factory Ford.

As soon as someone gets a pin, we can put this Scooby Doo mystery to rest! ALL the other dowels are in...rear cover has them, I wouldnt install when there are holes for alignment. 1st 7.3, god only knows how many others...just bigger scale CAT, CUMMINS, PACCAR, International...but yet never been in a Detroit...huh....

I'm 99.9% sure we got this...

Yeah I've got one out on the shelf. I'll go see if it's got any pins with it as soon as I get these dogs fed.

I don't think it's an oil pump pin. Here's one I just pulled from a spare front cover.

Thats what I think happened...this thing is at 248K and other than pass side head, nothing has been touched. The new pump had a small pin already in one side, the lower DS pin... reused the top pin...i don't know if they changed that at some point, but makes sense if they did. IDK..pretty sure those pins are short like you have...im not concerned much now I know I pretty much checked anywhere that pin could have came from
