Track Bar Torque

I have a 23 f350 that I’m putting a 2.5” level on with tremor blocks in the rear.

for the front it’s asking to torque the track bar (where it mounts to the frame side) to 250lb-ft

but I’ve seen other suggestions at 406lb-ft

is it because the Readylift bracket is different or is one of the above specs wrong? What number should I go with?

That sounds like a perfect approach to leveling.

I too understood it to be 400 ftlbs on the upper mount. I was trying to figure out how I was going to do it without forking over the cheddar for a torque wrench rated for that

also this. I just added tremor springs that raised my up about 2”. The axle movement was negligible. I have the adjustable trac bar on hand but I don’t intend on installing it unless I go taller.

I have the right torque wrench to get 406lb-ft (still gonna take a grunt & fart)

but im just wondering if there’s a reason why the instructions are showing just 250lb-ft is all

Is it different on both sides?

I just rented a wrench at Autozone. This isn’t a blueprinted high rev engine needing exact torque specs.

If you get a click/pop on slow turns you will need to increase from the 250lb. I doubt 250lb will be enough.

It's funny that this popped up today. I replaced my track bar yesterday with a Cognito adjustable track bar. The 250# spec on the ball joint end wasn't an issue. The 406# spec on the frame side was an issue. There wasn't enough room for both my 3/4" ratchet and the digital torque "wrench". So I improvised by using a floor jack on the end on the 3/4" extendable ratchet to torque it to "it looks like the ratchet is bending". Yeah, not what I had planned when I started the process. After sleeping on it I'm am going to try a different set up today and see if I can actually get a proper torque.

Back in the day, I had a Chevy with the NP203 Full Time 4WD and they made a kit to convert it to part time.
The drive shaft yoke had to be removed to open the case to install some gears.
Directions from the MFG stated to torque the pinion nut to 250ft/lbs. Clear as a bell in the instructions, it said the "If you don't have a torque wrench, 250ft/ls means really tight".
I still laugh at that to this day.

For my 2019 f-450, I had to use a crows foot, socket would not fit.

406 ft/lbs is what it needs to be set to. I am torquing mine down to spec today after installing a lift last week, and even though I have a high-torque impact, it wasn't enough, causing the top of the track bar mounting point to shift around when steering.

I would imagine that your aftermarket install instructions are just flat wrong.

My track bar spec’ed 250# on the tie-rod end and 406# on the frame end. Please share what you use in order to get to the 406# (tools, techniques etc.). Thank you in advance.
