I plan to remove my spare tire from under the bed since my 37’s won’t fit and I want to add an air tank under there for onboard air. Can I just remove the carrier and put the air tank down there or do I need to leave the carrier down there for some kind of extra frame bracing? Thanks for the help!!
Here is a pic of my air tank mounted with the spare tire dropped. You can see the cable mechanism that retracts the tire. I’m sure all you would need to do is take that one bolt off and turn the mechanism to remove it.
Or if you wanted, the spare tire can still fit with some setups depending on how big of tank you need. That way you have it for extreme emergencies.

I am gonna put the spare tire in my bed since my 37" tire wont fit down there so I figured it would just make more space under there if I removed the entire spare tire carrier mount so I have plenty of room for the tank and airlines but wasn't sure if that carrier is needed for frame support.

I wouldn’t think that plate provides any support. only there for the cable retracting mechanism to mount to. I’m just not sure if that plate is welded on.
I'm planning to carry a partially deflated 37" spare in the OEM location and keep my bed for doing bed stuff. Just air up the spare if I ever need it.
I tried that with my 37”s, even deflated and straps compressing the tire I. 4 places…wouldn’t fit…some type of hoist drop and relocate to the rear is needed.
its in my bed that had a bed cap during long trips.
short trips I’ll just rotate one of my 6 dually tires if needed. Assuming a plug kit won’t work.
