I have a 2017 F350 with a 6.2, coming up,on a year of owning it. Sometimes after driving and I pull into my driveway or parking lot and sit with the truck running, I can hear a slight noise coming through the steering wheel/column. If I turn the steering wheel it kinda changes. It’s almost like part of the steering system may be rubbing on part of the motor and transmitting the sound. It doesn’t do it all the time, I can’t make it do it. I’ve looked and nothing it rubbing or touching. Just wondering it anyone else may have experienced anything similar.
Could be the steering stabilizer getting squeaky. Get under the truck while running, in park of course, and have someone turn the wheels to see if you can zero in the sound.
Sometimes when I turn my steering wheel it sounds like there's BBs in the wheel rolling around. I can't figure that one out. I second the idea of having someone turn your wheel while you look for any rubbing or binding.
I have a 2017 Ford F250 diesel with 140K miles and am experiencing a whining noise in the steering column and it almost sounds like a short wave radio signal as I turn my steering wheel whether in park or not. any ideas what this could be?

The OP ghosted this thread but I do see he had another thread where an issue was found to be steering shaft related. That may or may not have been the cause of this concern too.
I'll ask you the same question, do you have adaptive steering? (OP did not)
Would be nice if posters with issues would give the solution to the problem or atleast reply with no fix found. Helps the next guy using the search function for a possible solution.

I like the "short wave radio" description....I have the same sound on my '17, small inputs or while turning a corner it will make the sound, like a dry rubber seal/grommet. I like it, its entertaining to hear.

I do not have adaptive steering and it does sound directly related to the steering column rather than anything beyond the firewall.

I'm not sure what a short wave radio sounds like exactly. I have read of some having a squeeky sound when turning and it being caused by clock spring. I've been getting a sound occasionally, usually not until after driving the truck for several miles. Similar to how jimzpsd described it. I do have adaptive steering so wasn't sure if it was somehow associated with it.
