I never had to use the one on my 1989 Ranger but did once a loooong time ago on my 1988 5.0 Stang and I think it was all black with a white/gray button for resetting, and two wires.
The switch is there to cut off fuel flow in the event of an accident. It can be reset by pushing down the white button at the top of the switch. It's a small unit about 1.5 inches wide ands its attached to the floor side of the firewall right where the carpet ends under the glove box.
