Exhaust issues - V10
Long time no read! Hope everyone is doing well.
The fully custom exhaust I had installed in 2015 has given up it's ghost, thru rust. I picked the the BRExhaust y-pipe because the custom built one is a rusty mess.
What happened next is 100% my fault - I bought a Gibson 9100 dual outlet cat-back system. It's listed for Super Duty trucks, and I figured it'd be fine for the Excursion. I was wrong. the fuel tank is in the way. So on marketplace this will go....
Next, I started looking for Excursion specific dual side-swept exhaust systems - several manufacturers are quite proud of their products, and maybe that's warranted. However, Gibson does have a dual side-swept cat-back system, part number 69900. The odd thing it, it's listed for RWD only. My rig is 4WD. What on ear... Excursion would be in the back that would determine an exhaust RWD only? That doesn't make any sense. Can anyone shed some light before I spend another $650 on something?

No. I has to do with the rear axle geometry, I guess. I spoke with Gibson earlier - they said the dual side swept will not fit the 4WD model Excursions. A female staff worker at Gibson tried like hell, apparently, to get one on her 4WD Excursion and was never able to make it fit. The design has it going between the PS rear shock and the gas tank. So apparently there's not enough room for the two pipes. That's certainly what I ran into with trying the 9100 part number for the 250/350; so my guess is the gas tank takes up more real estate than the spare tire.
