Another thing that I have noticed is that as soon as the dpf gets up to 65% capacity it will automatically initiate a regen.
Once it starts the soot level drops to zero in a very short time.
Yup, the low DEF warnings are EXTREMELY IRRITATING!!!
500 miles to empty when towing on my truck starts before the gauge is even at half, then next comes after another 69 miles, then after another 50, then after 40 more.
Started carrying an extra 2.5 gallon jug just to stop the stinking warnings until the next time I fill at the pump.
On my old 2015 RAM, warnings didn't start until 200 miles to empty, then each 50 after that, but not nearly as annoying as my F250.
And, I would run my RAM all the way down to nothing before re-filling, no way I could stand to do that in my Ford.
Well. This is what I was looking for. I guess misery loves company. The "miles to empty" versus the percentage of DEF in the tank just don't match up. But I'm afraid of going by the percentage since the "miles to empty" will easily get to 0 first. 1000 miles on a full tank of DEF and I have to go get more. But I'm towing almost 100% of the time.
Nope. My 2023 SO goes through DEF quickly too. But in a couple years, this won't be an issue for me.
They started going through more DEF sometime in 2022-2023. My 2021 6.7 was doing very well on DEF while towing and then after an update I started going through a tank of DEF in 1000-1300 miles of towing. At least enough to set off the low def sensor. So I was getting about 125-150 mpg. Since I only towed 400-800 mile trips, I just filled up before each trip.
