Particulate matter sensor + Tailpipe replacement

I’d be grateful for advice on a dealer quote for PMS replacement.
It’s a 2019 F250 diesel, with only 19,000 miles. Used mostly for towing.
It has thrown code P20EE, and I’m told the PMS sensor has failed because “diesels don’t like to sit”.
But they also said that the sensor and the tailpipe have to replaced as the sensor will not come out. A subsequent online search shows a separate sensor/sender unit. Do I really have to pay the outrageous price for a new tailpipe too?
Thanks for the help!
Gavin

They can get stuck. We have had ok luck with heat on them, but we have had to repair threads before. We have even gone as far as removing the old bung and turning a new one on the lathe. A dealer won’t bother to do that if it pulls the threads from the tailpipe, they are going to make you buy one.

Yes the attitude of “you have no choice but to pay C$2,500” isn’t appreciated. I get my sensor tomorrow, and will report on the end result. Would the dealer be required to re- calibrate the sensor?
thanks.

I updated you other thread.

if I were you

i would leave the old sensor installed…buy a new one…get a new bung welded into the existing pipe…install new sensor.
