As the title says, after 196k miles it's time to rebuild my 1995 F150 in my signature. I bought this truck new in January 1995 and and it has been very good to me for 29 years. I had a rebuilt transmission (E4OD) installed last year, both axles rebuilt with all new bearings, and now want to have built a stronger, more horsepower, higher torque 351-400 cubic inch engine that will work with the EFI that Ford used. Not looking to drag race or turn RPM's above 4800 but mostly a daily driver with good throttle response and low end torque. Any suggestions on a reputable engine builder, parts I should look at to use and would consider a stroker if it will work with the stock EFI. Plan on keeping this truck until I no longer can drive and then my oldest grandson inherits it.
I'm building a 408 for my 95 F250 at this time. I went with Ford Strokers. I purchased the parts and will be doing the build myself. Machine work will be done elsewhere. I built my E4OD last year and installed a 4.10 gearset.
I plan on installing the bumper you sold me on the side of I-90 by summer time. I hope you enjoyed your long trip away from home.
My buddy did just that to his '95 F250 4x4. 393 cubic inches using 3.85" stroke cast crank, Keith Black KB364 22cc dish hyper pistons (yielding ~9.3:1 compression), Ford Motorsport X302 64cc aluminum heads, FMS X303 roller cam, shorty headers... What makes it all work is conversion to OEM 5.8L Ford Mass Air SEF from a Bronco -- Entire front body harness, ECM, etc... Some re-pinning was necessary for his E4OD and to eliminate the front ABS sensors that the Bronco had...
I am building a 351W to run on a stock 1999 to 2002 5.4L engine electrical harness and ECU. The ECU I chose doesn't have PATS, as I have found out about many other earlier F150s and F250s. I am not building it high performance -but mostly for durability and upgraded ignition (for the 351W). I probably could have used the stock 2005 system as it also was PATS free. But it was an auto and finding a 2005 M/T ECU and then modifying the 2005 harness would have been a little more challenging than using a slightly modified 99-02 M/T system.
