Run/cranking source

I'm installing a Holley Sniper in my 64. I'm doing wiring now and need to find a source with power when the engine is both running AND cranking. This is a trigger wire that just tells the unit that the engine is either cranking or already running. I've done some poking around the internet already and came across a Mustang forum where someone suggested using the C source on the ignition switch. This was for a 68 though. I then looked up a wiring diagram for my ignition switch but there's no C terminal.

I'm not at home to pull the switch out but I'm assuming I have the Early switch shown in the attachment. If so which, if any, would be the correct terminal for this wire?

Thanks for any help.

edit: After looking at the diagram again, if I had to guess, maybe jumper both the (S)tart and the (R)un?

Why not use the wire you have going to the coil now. Remove the pink resistor wire under the dash and replace it with a solid wire. It will get 12V from the start relay when cranking and 12V on run.

I don’t have a coil. It’s an HEI. I don’t think it would work the same.

If you are running HEI the 12v power to the dist/coil should have 12v cranking and run. That is what gives the dist/coil power to start and run.

Thanks. I'll look into that.

The same 12v that is used to power the HEI (there is a coil inside btw) can power the sniper. I think that is what Crop Duster was eluding to. I personally like to use a relay. The relay is switched by the 12v for the ignition system. This gives nice clean power for the sniper system. I’ve done 4 sniper systems and have very good success with this.
