I am having trouble finding a drag link, etc., for my 75 F250 with dual piston calipers. I did find on Rockauto, but the price, for some unknown brand, was so low that it scared me.
I tried LMC, NPD, and Dennis Carpenter, but they did not have it.
I would appreciate the help.
Have you tried, NAPA, O’Reillys, or AutoZone yet?
Chances are that it’s one of those parts that often goes out of stock for months at a time. But if you’re lucky in your timing, you might find one at one of the usual sources.
Be careful some auto part stores have the F150 # on their books for a F250 and there is a difference between the 2. How do I know, O'Reilly's had it wrong and ordered me the wrong part for my 4wd 1979 F250.
I ordered the linkage--3 pieces--from RockAuto. I stayed away from brands that I didn't know or never heard of. Each piece did state that it was the truck model with dual piston calipers, so it should all fit. We'll see.
Summit had the parts, but did not specify dual piston calipers.
With shipping it cost about $160.
I got all new steering linkage installed. The surprising thing is that the old tie rod ends came out so easily. All but one just lifted out or fell out once disconnected. One I had to thump with my fist before it dropped out.
The second surprising thing is the drag link adjustment sleeve. The two threaded ends that connect to the adjustment sleeve are maxed out inside the sleeve. They are hitting each other. But for now that is okay because the toe-in measurement of the front wheels is not set right where it is supposed to be.
Now I have to learn to steer all over again, ha ha. I had gotten used to having free play in steering from 10 to 2 o'clock. Now there is only a few degrees of play.
