Fire Extinguishers

Decided to relocated the 2.5 LB Amerex fire extinguisher I've kept under the rear seat to a more accessible location and add one in the bed for when we're camping.

Fabricated a bracket out of some scrap material for mounting one under the driver's seat and mounted a second in the bed on the Built Right panel. The seat mount allows for full seat adjustment and is under enough that my feet don't hit it. The release **** is also easy to locate and use.

Used quick-release mounts that I picked up from Amazon, same as we've been using on our Bronco tailgate.

All good locations. I have been considering mounting one on the inside of the tailgate, so it just flops down in front of you when you need it in a hurry.

I've got one mounted to the wall of the bed, just inside the tail gate for that reason. My experience had been that when I needed one, I needed it REALLY FAST! 😅

My back seat are up all the time and there's a fire extinguisher and first aid kit in the. storage box area on the driverside. You just never know.

I keep one under the backseat in case it’s needed but in all honesty, if my truck suddenly goes up in flames, I will just get out and let it go. No use having Ford try and fix it as it’s better off totaled. I had Ford try and fix my 99 SD after it received a lot of damage but the insurance failed to make it a total loss. What a complete soup sandwich that truck was after they “repaired” it. Not willing to go down that road again.

Nice fab skills. I have a regular cab, so I mounted the fire extinguisher on the rear cab liner just behind the center console.

I dig it brother. I dig it.

I cannot say it enough, have a fire extinguisher handy from the drivers seat.

Even the little aerosol can style fire extinguishers that fit perfectly into the doors of a SD are better than nothing.

Can't tell you how many vehicle fires I've seen. And man, once they start going, they KEEP going, and fast.. They get thru that "firewall" and then ZOOM, they rip thru the cabin and if you're entrapped, you will burn.

Every door of every vehicle you have must have a fire extinguisher, OLAES or Israeli bandage, CAT tourniquet, pistol mag, rifle mag.

@Bananasfoster ,
Great post! I'd actually overlooked having an Israeli bandage and tourniquet handy. They take up very little room in the glove box.
Thanks! 😊👍

I've also recently added Naloxone to the kit. Even casual exposure to Fentanyl can kill you. Most doctors will write you a prescription.
