The square hole in the middle there was plugged with a blue plug that was slightly melted and fell in. Should I be concerned? I tried to fish it out, but lost it.
I don't know what this thing is, but it looks kind of like a giant EGR.
I wouldn't be concerned, watch this video...at 17:34 into the video you can see the hole like yours and many others videos like this will show the same thing. Perhaps at the assembly line yours had the cap on it and was never removed. The large aluminum item in question is the egr valve/cooler assembly.
