I’m wanting to add a set of OEM style driving lights to my 2000 Ex. I’m guessing that the wires are not in the harness because the option is not on the headlight switch.
Have any of y’all done this? If so, how hard would this be to update?
I don’t use the Auto on/off feature so I’m not concerned about that.
2000, 2001 had a different headlight/fog switch than the DRL switches. I completed the factory fog light option on my 2001. I was partially wired at the headlight switch plug, and that was it if I remember. It's doable if you can find the very rare headlight/fog non DRL switch. I sourced a NOS one from Ebay, and you'll need a fog light bumper harness.
I didn't even try to integrate mine. When I added a front tow hitch, I mounted a set of Rigid 2x2 lights (I think they are called "duallies") to the front tow hitch cross member in the same location as the factory lights. The Rigid ones are WAAAAAY better than stock (especially when lighting up reflectors and signs on the roadway). To get the left/right angles to line up how I wanted, I bought a set of feeler gauges and used them as shims.
I did it to both our 2000 trucks. I even installed the headlight switch with the driver/fog light option in the Excursion...it did not come out of an F-series truck and fit fine. Once I found out how useless they were I didn't bother installing the headlight switch in the F350...I even installed LED bulbs. There are 2 styles of driver/fog lights...02-05 and 05+...and they will not interchange because of the mounting brackets for the bumper. The early style has a hole in the reflector and the later style doesn't. There was someone on here that heated them in an oven to get them apart to get the correct reflector in them, then sealed them back up. I have been thinking about removing the lights, harnesses, switch, etc. and going back to the stock configuration.

How bad was it running the harnesses? If I have to, I’ll just power the driving light off the running lights if I can’t find a switch with the option.
So would I just need to get the wiring harnesses and switch from an 02+ truck? Or am I looking at more?
Click on the link I put in the post, it's more involved than just a bumper harness, and headlight switch. The square body harness plugs that go through the firewall below the master brake cylinder will probably need vacant spots filled. For me I'm happy with the lights, I had bought the OE fog lights, then switched to the Morimoto LED.

FWIW, the 99-04 and 05-07 style foglights are completely interchangeable. remove the 99-04 fog/bracket and install the 05-07 fog/bracket using same bolts and bumper holes. the brackets are different. I've done it 2x on an Excursion and 1x on a Superduty. The 05+ lights are nicer IMO and do project more light on the roadway. they even have an adjusting screw to adjust tilt. You can get the 05+ fairly cheaply used on eBay or reproductions on Amazon/eBay for about $50
