354 Hemi Swap?

354 Hemi Swap?
Hey all! Friend o' mine has a 354 Hemi with 390 heads. The motor came outta a Dump truck. He has the 671 Blower that goes with it but I'm not EVEN going to touch that. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever tackled something like this project. The HP output is about the same as the 428 that's in my 75 HB, it's the torque that the Hemi offers that I'm after.
The Hemi comes with a tranny married to a transfer case. First thoughts are that I probably would have to keep the C6 and NP205 and come up with an adapter to mate the Hemi to my C6........
Any ways, any thoughts?
Thanks, Bob

I am gonna pick his brain more this evening for info on the engine and what dump truck it came outta. Hopefully he wasn't lit when he told me I could have it. He was going to put it into his CJ5 with a boxed frame but ran outta time or energy. I will get back to ya tommorow and give you the skinny. Sounds like it could be a fun project.

Hey guys-
No, it's not a 6 v 71, it's real pretty !
The heads are HUGE. The engine is a Mopar. The blower that comes with it is a 6 inch belt 671 but that would be the end of my driver and the start of broken parts and HUGE gas bills. If this project is feasible, I'm just goin with the engine and tranny.
I will have more info on the engine itself this morning.
Thanks, Bob

That's the predecessor of the 426 Hemi from Chrysler - my mom used to process the warranties on this motor in Marietta!! It'd make a nice motor for my fiberglass T-Bucket....
You're right - LOTS of torque - they've haunted many-a-dragstrip in the past...

I was able to get a bit more info on this engine. It came outta a 1959 International Dumptruck, original motor. It has been rebuilt, painted and is REAL pretty.

Keep in mind that if the engine is built for the blower, then it would have lower compression to make up for the blower pressure. So it might be a little lacking with out the blower. How could you turn down the idea of having a blower under the hood... At least take the blower for possible future use.

seems to me like you should use an engine like that in a resto rod, or something nostalgic, yeah that'd be awesome in a 50 style T bucket
it is a super cool engine, but a Mopar in a high boy?
whatever you do, good luck

I know, I know! A mopar in a Highboy! I have a 428 CJ in it right now but the TORQUE!!!!!! I've been told that a 354 Hemi with the 390 heads puts out 600+ torque! A blower would be the s**t under the hood, major "check this out" feature but my gawd, I don't have that kinda wallet to fix all the broken parts besides, my wife already calls it a money pit. I'll keep y'all posted on the final verdict.
