Hello, My name is James and I'm new here and to owning an older Ford. As stated in the title I am in need of information on a recent project so I can get it running right. Any information could thank you.
N20153 = 1972 numerical series, December 1971 production.
194 = 194 inch wheelbase
No color code. Note this is a special order truck so the color could be part of that.
F605 = F600 gas, 4x2, 19,200 lbs GVWR (1972 only for this configuration--GVWR changed in '73)
4B8
4B = Black vinyl

A = New Process model 435 four speed transmission
F3C
F3 = Eaton model 15201 two speed rear axle, 15,000 lbs capacity, 6.33 / 8.81 ratios
C = Ford 6,000 lb capacity front axle
19200 = 19,200 lbs GVWR
164 3800 = 164 certified net HP @ 3800 RPM
471516

1516 = Special Order Number
If your truck is titled as a '73, it could be that it sat on a dealer lot for the better part of 1972 and was finally sold in early 1973. And someone put model year 1973 on the paperwork.
If you have the original warranty plate on the driver door, more info can be decoded.

OK Dayton style wheels with split locking rings, if they are all the same. These are "safe" and servicable at a truck tire shop. That type of wheel has to be reinstalled on the spokes just so, otherwise it's a wobbler.
The two speed. Short version, do not shift it to slow the truck, and don't shift it on a down hill, and think twice shifting it UP on an uphill.

I would like to change the rims out to a more commonly used size tire. What rims would work for this? I have looked into it a little and seen 255-80x22.5 are close to the 9.00x20 that is on it but all the rims I find are 10 lug. Any help would be appreciated thank you
Facebook marketplace has a pretty good selection. Search there or your favorite sale site for Dayton 22.5 rim and also dayton tubeless rim.
I just picked up 4 for $30 each. $50 is a pretty common price. My C600 has 20 x 10.00 which is the same as 11 R 22.5 tires, which are the common size on semi's.
I think 11 R 22.5 low profile is the same as 20 x 9.00. Used low profile tires are cheaper than others because they can't be recapped, so the old tire has no value. Hopefully someone comes along that can confirm the low pro size match.
The Dayton style uses a demountable rim. You can get the 22.5 rims and slide them right on.
A change to 10 lug Budd type wheels would probably require changing the axles.
