I had a bearing go out on me a couple months ago and life got in the way so I’m just now addressing it, as I was going to replace the bearings, I noticed that something was still stuck in there, I assume the outer ring of the bearing. No matter what it is it’s got to go (see second photo for how it SHOULD look, as shown by the passenger side) I was thinking of using some gear pullers, those type with the three prongs, but then I realized that the prongs don’t grip in the outward direction, so I don’t think that would be too effective, unless they could somehow hold on to those thin layers shown in photo one. If y’all have experienced this or have any advice it would be much appreciated, any help is appreciated, thanks. A slide hammer with the pullers reversed will remove the bearing remnant easy enough. Some parts stores loan tools like slide hammers...or they used to do that.
That sure is a nasty, gummed up hub...wow that is nasty.
Please use a better support than a scissors jack...even brand new those are rickety. Jack stands are nice though I often use solid 6x6 wood blocks.
