I dont see rust on the firewall and the rust on the booster and master I say is normal if they did not have paint on them from day 1.
From pictures it dose look like a clean truck and for me not having to do body work, I hate body work, I may pay a little more.
Yea bring a good battery and a compression gauge and cranking for compression if it thru a rod you would hear that.
Heck could hook a oil gauge and see what the oil PSI is when cranking also.

Maybe you're right on the firewall could be just dirty on rust colored paint?
Anyway since the OP mentioned the seller is a Marine and serving, low on funds, I could be charitable in my offer if I really wanted that truck. If rust free, passes basic tests could start with a 2k offer.
No not hardly. I bought a '82 150 ext cab auto for 3000. The guy drove it 200 miles to deliver it. Your guys is asking way to much. For a non-running vehicle you cannot even drive. I'd be at 1,000 tops. I look at it this way...they stopped working on it for a reason.
like others say i'd be very speculative due to its non running condition. if you like the truck and figure worst case scenario a new engine and tranny and maybe rear end, price those, and still have the funds and excitement , go for it. a lot of good opportunities are wasted having not been taken. a lot of stress and money has been saved also it embarking on such projects.
the decision is yours, not ours. 2k could be walk around money for you or some and therefore make the risk wayy low. for others it's a lot of overtime and sweat and they can't risk making a bad decision. let us know what you decide.
