Hi there. My 84's window seals/felts were shot, so I've been installing the F150 window seal kit from Bronco Graveyard.
3 noob issues:
1) Can someone who's done this tell me where the divider corner bend should end up when installed? I lined mine up to the top of the vent window frame but something seems off. I haven't found a good zoomed in pic of this.
2) Are the rubber edges of the felt supposed to sit on top of the door frame, or be tucked inside the opening? A how-to video I watched had the rubber outside, but on my other door, what's left of it is tucked in. The rubber doesn't look that great on the exterior side when it's out.
3) With the seal in place, there's a "thunk" from the door when I start rolling the window down. It seems to be coming from the regulator part of the door. The regulator arm twists very slightly under the pressure of the window being fully closed. Then when I roll down the "thunk" is something letting go. Window otherwise moves fine enough. Hard to describe. Even harder to get a decent video.
That corner should sit up into the corner.
If you pull the seal out and look you will see where the vent frame and door forum the corner.
Fit the seal up into the corner and then fit the rest of the seal in the window channel.
I dont remember have that much trouble installing mine they just kind of fell into place.
Yes the glass will be a little harder to roll up & down because the seals are new but not that hard to bend the arms of the regulator.
I would like to know who made your seals that you bought from BGY
I got mine off Ebay years ago from Fairchild IIRC
I got a full kit as I was rebuilding the truck from ground up.
Only issue I did have was the vent window seals but the replacement vent frames I got were the wrong ones.
Once I got the right ones the vent seals went right in.

Thanks. I think the seal is preventing me from rolling the window up to a good stopping point easily enough to avoid torquing the regulator arm. I also just can't seem to get the corner to fit well.
I ordered another pair of channel seals from Dennis Carpenter (F5TZ-1521536-AX) so we'll see if they're different/better. I can't find any manufacturer info/markings on my BGY seals, but they look a bit different from pics I see elsewhere, i.e. the Fairchild part and some NOS F5TZ-1521536-A pieces.
As for the vent window seal, I butchered my hands forcing it into the frame channel (should have lubed it up I guess) but it seems to fit and look right.
My vent frames were rotted and needed replacing.
At the time I did not know there were different ones based on years.
It was not till years later I went to install the seals I found they were a little different but got the seals installed.
Then I could not get them in the doors and found they were a lot different and had to get the right ones.

The challenging seals to install are the wing window seals. A real test of patience trying to get them locked into place in the wing window frame.
As in most things, the second one was easier after struggling on the first.
UPDATE: I ended up finding a pair of OEM window channel runs on eBay. These went in like a glove and look correct (no rubber flaps outside the channel like the 2nd pic I posted). Once I got things back together, everything is working fine.
Thanks for the tips! Now, my next mission: Make a new vapor barrier to replace the (original?) paper ones I destroyed.
I started to use heavy mill plastic till I got pissed and ditched them all together.
Note the paper the factory used is treated not just plain paper.

I bought some bottom seals a while back on Ebay. I haven't installed them yet. After reading your thread I'm wondering if I got the right ones. I was looking at mine today. Do these look right:

Those look right to me. I didn't have any trouble with that part -- it snapped right on. (I didn't do the interior-side ones because mine aren't terrible and they're stapled to the door panel.)

I see, you got the window channel that fit correctly on Ebay? Would you mind posting a link to the seller? I'm eventually going to need the window channel too, I think. Might as well get it now. Mine is an 86 but I'm thinking it's exactly the same as your 84.

It was a random seller that happened to have a pair. I searched for the part number (E7TZ-1521536-A, F5TZ-1521536-A, or similar) and filtered out the non-Ford/OEM listings. There's usually a few going. That said, a lot of people here seem happy with the Carpenter/BroncoGraveyard/Fairchild parts. I'm not sure why I had so much grief.

Thanks for the info, PN, alt vendors. Since you've been redoing your seals and felts how much time do you think it will take to install just the seals per door? Looks like the doors have to be taken apart and the window removed to get the seals in place. I'm just looking for an estimate of the time so I know about how much time to block out per door. Also any good sources, videos for tips and processes you found useful?
I'm really wanting to get the seals in. I've been procrastinating on this project since I have been able to garage my truck and avoid most of the rain that way for the past 5 years.
Dennis Carpenter is the highest quality and I have found Fairchild to be pretty good too.
All of the vendors seem to be secretive about what brands they have so do some homework before ordering to make sure you get a good brand and not some Ebay special from overseas with fitment issues.
On the 80-86 inner window sweeps, the factory staples the sweep to the plastic door panel.
The replacement sweep is to be installed with 4 or 5 short body rivets.
I have the 80-86 Dennis Carpenter replacement door panels and they came with the inner sweeps and a bag of rivets with instructions to install.
Pretty easy to do and turned out great.
I just installed all new rubber components in both my doors in my 85 Bronco and they do not operate stiffly at all.
In fact, they returned the truck to feel and the experience to what it was like when new.
Door closes with a solid thud. Windows glide smoothly with no hang ups, resistance, vibrations or rattling. No wind noise. I did clean and lube the window regulators and tightened things up and inspected for excess wear.
I even did the wing window seals and those by far took more attention then any of the other seals. After testing in the rain for a few days, the lower wing pivot weeped a little bit of water so I messaged a little bit of silicone grease into the area and solved that issue.
If you take your time it should turn out very good.
