Just purchased a new travel trailer and I would like to add TPMS to it. Can I add the factory system to my 2020 F250 XLT? On the Ford accessory website, it shows one that can be added. The camera system would be awesome, but I am more concerned about the tires.
I've been using TST (Truck System Technologies) TPMS for maybe 6 years. Sensors screw onto valve stems, mount monitor on windshield. Not factory. I wouldn't leave home without them. Towing a 5th wheel.

to run the TST or any other manufacturer do you have to run steel valve stems? I was just shopping for this and the one on eBay stated metal valve stems required. Just wondering if that was the case with your brand.
Tst states metal stems are required for the flow thru sensors. They also state the sensors that just replace the stem caps can be rubber. With that being said, my cap replacement sensors on rubber stems have left marks on the wheels from the stems folding over far enough to allow them to touch. Metal stems probably the best for either type of their sensors.

I don't think anyone really answered your question, so I'll bump it for you.
Question: If his truck was not ordered with the Ford TPMS system, and he buys the Ford kit later, will it work with his truck? I'll add detail questions. Does the truck already have the wiring in between the cab and the bumper plug? If so, does the dealer have to turn the feature on for him (or maybe Forscan can do it)?
I'm curious too, so hoping someone who has done it can tell us. Same question for the trailer camera system which uses the same bumper plug.

Yes and yes. The kit will add the 12-pin connector in the lower bumper plug which replaces the 4-pin. The harness is located behind the bumper and probably connected to a dummy plug. This harness plugs into the back of the 12-pin connector.
After that, and since the truck wasn't ordered with the trailer TPMS, it is possible that you may have to toggle the trailer TPMS feature on in FORScan. Having said that, neither my 2019 or my 2023 were ordered with the trailer camera. I bought it both times from Nichols to augment the trailer TPMS, installed, and it instantly worked. Didn't have to toggle anything in FORScan. HTH.
@bpounds and @kry226 Thank you for the information and the bump. I will have to reach out to Nichols to see what they can do for me. I always wanted to add TPMS to my boat trailer, but being dunked in water wasn't great for the receiver box that needed to be mounted on the trailer. Now that I have a travel trailer, I think that it would be an asset to have.
