hypertech?

any 1 using the hypertech programmer on a 5.4 auto?
I went to thier website and they have a dyno chart for a 01 f250 with 5.4 auto --they show that thier programmer adds 45rwhp at 4800rpm and 57rwtq at 3700 rpm over stock numbers
is this accurate or just a sales gimmick--sounds far fetched to me
if its true--that is a huge bang for the buck mod
thanks for any input
Josh

Check Out Superchips. I sent my Hypertech back after I found that the Superchips (Thru this forum) is better. Granted I haven't installed it yet but if you look at everyones truck descriptions you will find that the vast majority of people are running the Superchips. One other thing Hypertech programs for WOT (wide open throttle) Super chips programs for all across the power band.

Josh,
I had a HyperTech PPIII for a 01 Z28 that I recently traded in for my '02 F250 SD CC 5.4L. The HyperTech didn't do a whole heckuva lot on the Z28, in fact the rev limiter was worse than the stock settings, IMO. But that is a *****-out fast car even stock, so it may not be a great indicator.

I have heard good things about the Diablo (for diesels anyhow; I don't know if they're as effective on the gas engines) and the SuperChips.

I have also heard that with gas motors, the power programmers aren't maximized unless you get modified throttle bodies, air intakes, etc... That is based on the info I've seen in this and similar forums, so best to do your own research and come to an educated decision.

I am using a Diablo on my 5.4L and am very happy with it. You can tell a big difference. It shifts firmer, downshifts better and I make better gas mileage. I had a Hypertech chip in a previous car and finally ened up sending it back for good. I gave them 3 tries to get it reprogramed right. All it would do is make the car not idle, idle at 3000 RPM or as you were driving it would start surging and the check engine light would come on. I would use something other than Hypertech on your 5.4. Just my 2 cents.
