I have the steering wheel off and trying to see how to remove the gummed up ignition switch. The switch does not move freely as it should. Any help is appreciated. thank you all
FYI for anyone seeing this the ignition switch is not behind the wheel so it dose not need to be removed.
The switch is down low on top of the column held on with 2 screws.

I'll add that unless you need to remove the wheel for another reason you probably don't need to remove it to clean old grease. You can usually solve issues with a sticky ignition key tumbler by using a good application of a lubricant product. I use a silicone based lube. Others use different products, graphite based, lock lubes and even WD40. Which ever product you have you can get a good application by spraying the product in the key hole, insert the key and crank the key to the start position and back to off and then to accessory while applying a small amount of lube to the top of the key cylinder. Repeat several times till the key returns to the run position under spring power. Be sure to disable the starter motor when doing this. For manual transmission do not depress the clutch pedal or for AT place the gear selector in D or R that should keep the starter from engaging while lubing the key tumbler. If your vehicle has these interlock switches disabled you will have to disconnect the battery. Hold a rag or paper towel under the key tumbler to catch any excess lube. It's also helpful to park on a side grade to help lube flow into the key tumbler.
