I am buying a F-250 or 350 crew diesel. The 7.3Ls are scarce and I am looking into used. The local dealer has what I want in new 6.0L. With the rebates and special plans a new 6.0L is only a few thousand more than a low milage used 7.3L.
Question for you guys. Do the prices including the initial depreciation and alleged 6.0L problems outweigh the (over inflated) priced but reliable performance of the 7.3Ls?
Until Ford gets the problems worked out on the 6.0 I wouldn't buy one new or used (especially used). Buy a 7.3 and don't look back. Look at some of the postings on the Superduty forum.
Just think in 20 more years some guy with a 6.0 is going to be saying the same thing
Only he suggest not to buy the new 1000cc diesel with 1000lbs of TQ and burns on rice wine
the tree huggers are going crazy because we are using up all the rice in the world to drive or hover trucks…………hum
I personally would NOT buy a used 6.0, as more than likely it is used due to the owner having problems, then trading it in, or being bought back.
I would however, not even hesitate to buy another may 03 or later 6.0. this has been the best new vehicle i have ever owned, and i have owned quite a few.
I have the 6.0 and have had some issues with the fuel system. Today I wish I had the 7.3 but I am confident that the issues that are bugging me today will be ironed out in the near future and that the fixes will be made to my engine. At that point I am sure that I will be a very happy camper.
