Just picked up a '72 F100 4x4 for a restomod build and have a general question. Is an original 5th gen drivetrain worth selling, is there a demand? I don't want to pull out the parts and scrap them if someone sees use for them. The drive is not to make money but to not throw something away that some may have a desire for.
I gave mine back to the guy I bought the truck from, he parts out cars and sells the parts. I'm not in a position to ship that big stuff, pita. But I can't imagine they are worth a lot.
List it for $100, pick up only. What do you have to lose?
If it was me I'd keep it. Cause these old Fords have a way of finding out where we live and they show up. Sometimes they need a drive train and since you would have one...

Reason: fixed spelling
this is specific to where you are... around me it seems like you can get a minimum of $300 for any block that's rebuild-able and $500 for anything that you have video of it running well. transmissions are all over the place but i don't ever see anything listed under $500. so 800-1000k on the low end for me, but there are 3m people in the city i live in
I think I sold my 352 (running) for $500. I threw the old front axle (closed knuckle) away. Sold the NP435 with 4wd tail shaft ( to bolt transfer case shifter to) for something like $350. Still have the old Dana 24 laying in the garage no one wants.
So, I got about $850 for my old drive train so far….
Title? And does the title and tag match the frame numbers?
front, rear and door stainless trim included?
the parts in the cab can't be $30k you are talking about?
I’d hang on to it, if you have the room to do so, and list it. That’s what I did for mine. I listed the axles and lots of key board warriors tell me how I wouldn’t be able to give them away but sure enough someone came along who had been searching all over for a set.
The only part I haven’t sold is the transmission. I’ll hang on to it and I’m sure someone will come
along.
I guess it all depends on if you have the space to store/keep it or not. If you do, hang onto it, as you never know....
And if you don't, yeah. They're worth "something", but that depends on the condition, whether it's running (and can be shown/witnessed doing so), and the geography between you and the buyer.
