Original or Customized?

What is the general opinion. Is a 1960 1/2 ton worth more completely original or customized.

I believe customized with updated (modern) drive train brings more money and appeals to more potential buyers.

All depends on how well the resto/modifying goes. New motor suspension and interior often brings more $ and is much easier to do than restoring. If you do the resto right, it can be worth as much if not more, but also requires alot more work hunting down rare parts, is your truck a long or short bed? V8 or 6cyl? Custom cab or standard, list all the rare options you may have. -4speed

It all depends on the buyer....... I would'nt buy one that has been customized, yet I'd pay top $$ for a mint condition original.

The real question is.... which is the better market from a sellers perspective. Customized or original?? I'm betting that customized might have a wider appeal with a younger age group, while original may appeal more to a older age group. It all comes down to the marketing...

I have ask that same ? here sum time back and got the same answers. I still did not know which way to go on my 60 F100 6 auto stake bed. I want to drive it for my work instead of my 04 supercrew so I am working on putting in the following. 302, new wiring, new gauges and a mopar front end. I like things the way they came but you can not beat all the modern things.

If you are going to restore it to stock, the market is much smaller. Most people like the modern conveniences. I have a stock 55 Fairlane and a custom 54 f100. The Fairlane gets a lot more looks, but the truck is much more comfortable to drive. I believe a customized will probably bring a higher purchase price, but it will also cost much more to build with all the modern components. 289 + A/C + A/T + PW + PS + IFS + 9" + interior = BUCOO $. All in all, I think you would be lucky to sell either version for what you pay out of pocket. Good luck, John
