Hey guys.... I also own a 94 Ford Ranger 4.0 4wd. In 2001 I had to replace the clutch. Since the throw-out bearing is part of the clutch slave cylinder, I replaced everything while I was in there. A year later, the slave cylinder started leaking. I asked some mechanic friend why it would go out so soon. They said that the aftermarket clutch could be too stiff, and too much pressure required to work it. So, I went back to FORD. Bought everything new form them. Everything. cha-ching.. Well, that was a year ago, and I got to spend this weekend pulling the tranny to replace another blown out slave cylinder. ugh. anyone have any ideas????
At any time, did you lube the sleeve that the slave/throw bearing ride on? When you changed it last, did you clean it up with some emery cloth or something? It's not leaking from the hydraulic line connection is it?
sounds normal to me, every ford ive ever ownd has blown the slave at least once. i think its the worst design fords ever had. so i went with the a4ld auto and now probs with it. (but its still better then pushing a chevy) CAN I GET AN AMEN
