Small red light by vent??

Recently purchased an 05 Excursion Limited V10. I love the truck. I noticed recently that a small red light by the vent stays on when I shut off the truck. When the truck starts it goes away. When I purchased the truck that light was off when the truck was not running. Is this a valet light? Not familiar with the anti-theft of the truck. Thanks in advance!

Aftermarket Alarm System.
My guess is you bumped it and armed it. Try pushing it momentarily or push and hold, you should get a chirp if the horn/ siren is hooked up.

Thanks for the response. The back of the alarm box say Ford Motor Company?? I use to work valet many many years ago. They use to put the button on the steering column etc. I can find it. It like you said I probably can try holding a button down to see if it takes it self out of the mode it is in.

I think alarms can run independent of the factory lock remotes. Maybe the owner didn't give you the alarm fobs? And most alarms I've seen don't auto-arm/disarm like that. I'm almost wondering if that light is a "dummy alarm" light? Maybe pop the dash panel and follow the wires to see where they go.

Send a picture of the front of the remote. You may have the accessory alarm from Ford. It perfectly integrates with the truck and may use the standard RKE remote or a different remote if it has remote start.

It's the flux capacitor light, it turns on when the flux capacitor gets low on blinker fluid. If the blinker fluid goes completely dry you might damage the hyper-drive.
