Dana Axle U-Joints and damaged flange
So, while fighting what must have been the original ujoints on the front axle, I got it cockeyed in the flange while pressing it out. As a result, I marred up the inside of the flange where the dust cap would normally sit. I imagine its possible to smooth it down enough to be able to push in a fresh ujoint, but does that risk the integrity of that flange? I was using ball joint tools instead of the right stuff of course and it just got cockeyed. Is it just safer to replace the axle? I had bought a tiger tool thinking i was set, but of course i got one size too small.
Any recommendations are appreciated. This axle is kinda hard to find. Dorman has it....several out there for a Dana 60, but I haven't done the research to see if they are the same or not.
