I recently had a small repair done to my Ranger at "LeCircut Ford/Lincon" in St.Leonard Quebec.
They chopped an Inch off my 4X4 Shift Lever as per my Request 41.00 !!! and charged me 30 mins Labour @ 82.95 per/hr !!!! as well as Charged me 67.00 !!!! because my Check Engine Light was on.
And you wonder why people dont come to Ford for repairs unless its for a warranty FREE repair, talk about OVER PRICED for the Amounts they charged me they could have atleast Washed and Vacumed my Truck or given me a FREE Oil Change or somthing.
I'm seriously NOT buying another Ford EVER.. and recommending to my friends and Familly to NOT buy a Ford Product because i wouldnt want them to get Ripped Off the same way I have been..this truck is my 3rd FORD... I figured 3 times lucky but everytime I wind up Getting Sc****d.
If your gonna Give it to me in the A** atleast take me out for Dinner First.
why are you so mad ,,you ask them to cut a inch off ,,they are not going to do it for free,,,unless maybe you been long time and regular customer with them..
the check lite is a differ story..did they quote you a price first or ask you premissiom first // if not you can get at them.
Deisel you miss the Point.... they totally overcharge for everything.. I Could Understand 10 mabey even 20 Bucks to do the Job.. not 40 Bucks tho.. FORD service is totally OVER PRICED.. theyre Parts mark up is Like 200% for F Sakes..
WHy didn;t you ask them how much it was going to cost to get done what you wanted to get done. IF you knew how much it was you probably would not be mad right now!
PLus what does this have anything to do with Ford!!
So you guys Honestly think that 80 dollars an hour is a good price to get work done on your Vehicle ?... laugh... you must all be MotorHeads .....for 80 bux an hour you should atleast get your Vehicle Washed and a Vacum.. or some other Perks.. oh and i Tried to explain to them what i wanted.. but talking english to a french canadian is almost Impossible..
Im Just Pissed about how much it cost.. mabey your rich.... mabey you can Afford 80 dollars an hour... so i guess im just speaking up for those of us that arent Rich...
Oh, and I Took the old shift **** off and Put the new one on... all they did was Cut the lever... 3 min Job... they charged me for 30 min...
Mechanics... what a rip off... I bet you guys are mechanics arent you... no wonder your sticking up for these Auto Robbers.....
I was going to get them to do the Fuel Vapor Canister and Purge Valve But forget that... ill buy the parts from them, Only cause theyre a Dealer Item and cant buy them anyplace else and get a mechanic i know to put them in.. at, get this, for a Case of Beer per Hour....
All of the dealer shops around here charge $75+US per hour. No I am not rich or a mechanic. I would have done the whole shifter job myself tho. I do most of my own work, but if it is something I can't handle or feel comfortable doing I take it to a private garage or to a dealer and pay the price, I certainly don't whine about it. I had some work done on my daughters car at a dealer a few months ago and felt OK about the price charged for the work. It didn't get washed or vacuumed either.
If it was a 3 minute job to shorten the shifter why didn't you do it yourself???
Why did you go to a dealer if you can't afford the custom work? If you like cheap labor take it down to the chop shop on junkyard alley and have it done. Of course some of those guys down there are real craftsmen and can do amazing things

Exactly how did Ford screw you? They have independent dealerships in my area which are not owned by Ford.
Did you ask how much the shop labor was before SIGNING THE WORK ORDER? Why are you not able to cut an inch off a metal lever? Does your mommie dress you every morning?
I take it your talking canadian dollars vs. american dollars. that would make it about 20% lower here.
I am also sure if you looked on the wall you woud have seen a minimum charge of .5 hours for all service performed. So they chopped an inch off your shift lever, did they also reinstall the shift ****? Sounds like it could easily have taken a half an hour to do the job (right) and clean up the metal filings.
As for your check engine light - what did they do? I am sure they just didn't notice it was on and start writing you a bill. Did they hook up the computer? Clean sensors? Replace your oxygen sensor? All of which add up real quick, if you got it fixed for $67.00 Canadian (about $53.00 US) I'd say you got off cheap.
With that attitude they probably hope you won't come back either.
...Thats why I usually get a "qoute" before they start work...
Im still trying to figure out what it was that you couldnt do yourself...??
...Anybody here on FTE couldve warned you about that...If you'd asked...
Bud, if Ford is that bad in your eyes, go buy a Chev or Dodge. Oh, by the way, you'll pay just as much for labor at ANY dealer. Get over it. You don't like paying your dealer to do work, don't go to the dealer. Think that's bad, go buy an import, you'll really like their labor rates.
And anyone that pays the dealership to do custom work is asking for it. Would you go to Jiffy Lube for an engine rebuild?
And I'm sure you're wonderful attitude simply assures the utmost in customer service.
I'm a Motorhead and I replaced the infamous faulty rear windshiled wiper moter on a friends mothers '99 Expedition. I only charged a twelver of Sammy A. I don't think that was a bad price, but I also have morals. I would have cut down that shifter for you for a sixer and told you your light was on ( I'm sure you already knew it was on though!!). Dealer prices are the reason why I won't pay for something I can do myself, and I don't buy anything newer that 1979 except for the 2000 Lincoln LS, and yes that's going to the dealer.
I think he is just crying to us because he couldnt/wouldnt do it himself and he was either to afraid or just didnt care about getting a price quote before he authorized the work.. And!! If they fixed the check engine light they had to talk to him first and get his permission or he wouldnt have to pay for work performed
