Part identification help needed

I was changing the spark plugs on my 1996 f250 5.8 and noticed this cut tube. Can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks for any help.

The nylon vacuum hose broke. You can use a small piece of rubber hose to patch it back together.

Look at the vacuum diagram to see where it goes. Because of where the hose is going, my guess is to the air injection system.

I think this is applicable, does this appear to match your VECI found underhood by the base of the windshield on the driver side

From the location of the photo, to me this looks like it's the vacuum line for the HVAC system. If your mode selection (defrost/vents/floor or recirculate) does not work, this would be why.

Red is supply vacuum for the sensors that need it and the reservoir
Right, just use washer tubing / vacuum hose to repair the broken spots

Thanks to everyone for the help.
I couldn’t find the VECI. I fixed the break with vacuum hose as suggested. I still don't know what the tube is for exactly, but it’s fixed 👍🏻
