I’m getting ready to start a restoration on a 1949 Ford 1 v8 Flathead. The wheel needs replaced. I see in the shop manual that this truck can take 15” or 16” wheels. It seems like more wheels and tires are available for 15”
Do we have a preference 15” or 16” wheels?

Whichever rim and tire size you end up with, you'll want to understand if and how much it will affect your speedometer reading and if you will want to replace the drive and driven gears accordingly.

The word restoration gets used a lot and means different things to different people. When you say you're getting ready to start a "restoration" what does that mean to you? Are we talking a 100 point AACA show restoration? A nice driver? Something custom? Just making it run and drivable? Something in between all of the above? What are your plans for the truck? What would you like for it to do and look like when you're done? What kind of wheels and tires are on your mind for it? In the big picture, you can put any size and type tires you want to on it. The real question is, what do you want?
