Engine Swap

I recently split the block of my 99 ranger, and I was wondering what the biggest size engine i could fit in there would be? Right now it's a 3.0 Fuel Flex V-6, so I am guessing the 4.0 would fit with the fewest modifications.

And another thing, my dad looked into installing a new 3.0 and it would be around four grand with labor and all. I also have that clunk i would like to get rid of, can someone sent me the "how to" on greasing the slip yolk. and also, if anyone has bought the 4" alumnium shaft, gas tank, and skid plate, what would that run for me, just for the parts?

You can even get a 351 in there. The 4.0 would require all computer stuff and the mounting to the tranny would have to be corrected. All you do is mark the drivshaft so you put it back EXACTLY how it came out, unbolt it at the rear, slid it out and apply grease.

A 99 Exploder 5.0L drivetrain would fit with as much modding as a 4.0L

You need different mounting plates for a 2wd recipient truck, but those can be found on RPS....
