Ok, so had an oil leak at the LPOP, replaced the LPOP with Melling LPOP, and new Motorcraft Harmonic Balancer.
Couple of notes: One of the alignment pins was missing, and the key had factory grey silicone holding it place. I did not replace the missing alignment pin, and my understanding is that the silicone in the keyway is to hold the key in during assembly.
With that all said, the front seal of the LPOP (crankshaft) still continues to leak, trying to figure out what I did wrong.
I only had one pin in mine.....I used a dab of the Right Stuff in my keyway. No leaks after a year.
Where is your leak coming from? Can you see in there at all? I think mine originally leaked because 2 of the bolts had come loose, one was almost all the way backed out, the other was only finger tight.
Yeah knowing whether the leak is from the pump housing or the shaft seal would be the first step. Was the seal lip and balancer shaft lubed well before the balancer was installed? Was an installation tool used or was it run up with an impact?
I was just talking about this leak in my thread. I was told I need to RTV the key way but I have also seen people use wear sleeves. Since your balancer is new you shouldnt need one.
Best i can tell its leaking at the crankshaft opening. all components were lubed with assembly lube before assembly, harmonic balancer bolt was put in using an impact.

did you torque the harmonic balancer bolt to 212ftlbs? might need someone to hold the flywheel for you....I did
