I am going with check the harness going into the valve cover. I dont think I have ever seen a glow plug not working throw a code. I had a few go bad a few years ago and never tossed a code. But the wire harness is a big issue if it is a 7.3

It's the ole "super reliable" 6.0.... still harness?
Idk anything about 6.0's other than the obvious "oh no" factors... but on 7.3 I have seen the glow plug connectors pop off on the plug itself. But the easier thing to check and more lkely problem is damage to the harness where it connects to the valve cover gasket. Some of that may be applicable to the 6.oh no
The 7.3L Excursion has a GPCM which will throw a code for individual glow plug issues. I would first pull the green and black plugs and check for burnt pins. Then I would ohm the outer 2 pins on each side at the valve cover plugs and also look for bare wires from rotting insulation on the pig tails. This can be done before you pull the valve cover, but once you do I'd unplug the UVCH and look at the valve cover gasket for burnt pins before I pulled the glow plug. If you do decide and/or need to pull and replace the #2 glow plug I'd go ahead and replace all of them, or at least the ones on that bank because once one has failed the rest will likely follow suite shortly thereafter...
