Utilizes a low complexity, non-EGR air handling system with a wastegate turbocharger.
it’s built to perform like a
diesel engine with up to 325 hp and
660 lb-ft of torque
Dang, too bad it will be medium duty only as far as they say. A gas turbo inline six focused on torque is something that would motivate me to get a turbo finally.
If they would offer a manual 6 speed transmission that might be a very good combo for my 9000 LB 5th wheel. I am not unhappy with my 10 speed auto. Better numbers than the 6.0 and burns pump gas.

With the hemi now obsolete in the RAM half tons, I'm sure the 6.4 hemi's days are numbered. What's next for gasoline power for the Ram HD? Let me guess..... Cummins 6.7
I think fords 7.3 Godzilla has just been put on notice...
Lots to talk about.
When will it be in production in one of the top three truck manufacturers?
the youtube video that @6.8L_V8_DRW provided has a segment starting at 4:49 that shows a Ram 2500 testbed with the gas 6.7 motor. Ram will probably want dibs to the exclusive rights, at least for a while, not the least to replace their aging 6.4 Hemi motor that is now the least competitive gas motor in the class 2B and 3 trucks. Looking at the column shifter in the Ram 2500 test truck, it is probably hooked up to the 68RFE that is the base transmission for the 6.7 Cummins diesel and allows a lot of headroom.
Ford and GM each invested in their respective gas motors that has cost sunk in.

Yep, agreed, this makes a lot of sense as a replacement for the 6.4 Hemi. The 6.4 Hemi does not make economic sense to keep occupying floor space at their Saltillo Engine Plant now that the 5.7 is out and the Hurriane being in.

Interestingly the power and torque spec line up EXACTLY with the last of the manual diesel Cummins that were detuned to about 660 lb-ft. One can dream, but the feds and CARB testing procedures, and the inability of buyers to operate manuals, will probably prevent it from being a reality.

Just day dreaming on that one. I still have my old '88 GMC K2500 that I drive to work and in my hobby. I leave it running all the time to run into a store some where. They can't steal it since it's a 5 speed. My nephew still does not understand that concept.

Look at how many SD owners don't even want to hold the steering wheel or operate the brake pedal, and would rather entrust driving to a computer, they don't even see the point of a manual with Corvettes. Manuals are not coming back, sad to say.
By the time this engine has been out on the market a few years and the bugs worked out, it will probably cost over $100,000 to get it in a basic work truck, so I will never be able to afford one.
