ford put all their eggs in the 6.8 and 7.3 basket. that gas cummins is probly heading for the ram truck i would think

I hope ford keeps their eyes on their own paper. Look what happened in 2023 with the bed side step. The gas offerings are solid. I know I know the 7.3 issues. Don’t think they won’t face challenges with their builds as well.

Wow, this should be really interesting to watch this develop, a crate engine version of this would make a awesome resto-mod power plant.

I agree DIY shifting is definitely at critical mass, at this point dual clutch set ups blew by them in performance 25 years ago and even a performance orientated torque converter based automatic will out perform them. My goal is to hunt a manual transmission down as my kids first car, just for the character building.

Interestingly the power and torque spec line up EXACTLY with the last of the manual diesel Cummins that were detuned to about 660 lb-ft. One can dream, but the feds and CARB testing procedures, and the inability of buyers to operate manuals, will probably prevent it from being a reality.
One of these infinitely outweighs the other in regards to what an automaker will be able to crank off an assembly line. Griping about the other falls on deaf ears.
