Newbie needs help. Actually 73 YO, but new to this forum. I just purchased a 2019 F250 and would like to use Forscan. Here’s where the problem is….I can’t get on the Forscan forum without buying the product and getting an invitation code. I can’t activate the Forscan liscense and purchase because my email domain (charter.net) is blocked. I get a message to contact support, but can’t do that without being a member of the forum, but can’t purchase, so can’t join…..and so on,,,,,and so on. Running around in circles.
Any ideas? I’m tech savvy, but trying to contact Charter/Spectrum is hopeless. I could get another email address, but then that’s another account and password to deal with, but I will if I have to.
FORScan is a free download for the app. You can get a 2 month trial extended license for free. https://forscan.org/support/prepare_...st.php?lang=en
I only use it infrequently so I've always renewed the trial license when needed. Never been a problem. If your email is the problem try getting a Yahoo, Gmail or other such free account to use for FORScan.
FORScan is a Russian entity. Maybe Charter is mucking things up for that reason, who knows?
Welcome to FTE. You have found the right place for Forscan assistance. The forum members here will tell you how to get started, then help you with the "how to" questions.
Well, I got the trial program installed. I had to install Gmail, which meant I had to give Google my phone number to get the verification code for gmail. The connecting cable for the laptop will arrive Tuesday, so just a few more days of waiting. In the meantime I can read all the spam messages that Google sends to new accounts.
I've loaded Forscan on my laptop. I've tried to register on the forum but can't do so because I don't have an invitation code. I fill out all of the info on the forum registration page except for the invitation code, click submit, and get an invalid invitation code error. So, how do I get beyond this? Any advice?
OK, I have the license key, but I don't have the software on my laptop to open the file or save it. What is the file type? Can you recommend an app to download that will allow me to access the license key?
Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I pointed Forscan to the file in "my downloads" and Forscan recognized the file type. I think I'm good to go. It's raining here now, so I'll try to use it on the truck tomorrow. I'll reach back out of I hit another roadblock.
I wasn't trying to steal the thunder from FTE. I started with Forscan when I owned my F150 and the thread I posted was where I learned about 90% of my Forscan knowledge. Honestly, I haven't used it much in the last couple of years since I moved up to the F250 and made the mods I wanted with it, so I hadn't even looked at the thread here. Now, after looking through it, it very much is a great thread for Forscan for newbies and old-timers like me. Thanks for pointing that out. And thanks for sharing your knowledge about it as well. As always, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but if used properly, it can be very helpful.
Thanks for all of your advice and guidance. I used Forscan over the weekend to reset my TPMS warning limits. No issues whatsoever. Forscan worked great.

FYI,
It's a little scary in the beginning, mucking around within the truck's modules. But like anything else it's not so bad once you've done it a few times.
Not very often that I use FORScan anymore so the hardest part for me is always renewing the temporary license and then getting the license file placed in the right spot on the laptop. Being a Mac person and knowing next to nothing about Windows OS is not a plus for me.
