2011 6.7 Glow Plug Disaster
All,
Truck was in the shop for a manifold issue. Mechanic took it out for a test ride and truck started riding rough (5 min). He brought it back put it on the machine and results were the #7 glow plug tip busted off.
Recommendations on if the engine is toast?
1. Should i rebuild the exisiting motor?
2. Buy a crate motor?
3. Buy a rebuilt motor?

#1 or #2. The broken glow-plug tip is a symptom of what really happened, and that is very likely a valve broke. 2011's with a build date prior to March 2011 were prone to broken valves. There was an engineering change post March 2011 to resolve the issue. you can search this forum for the problem, and get more info.
