dash W/O tach to dash W/ Tach????

hi, I picked up a 97 ranger about a month ago that has the dash that doesnt have a tach in it, my dad wants me to put the dash with the tach in the truck, but he only wants me to do it if I can keep the odometer thats in the truck now, does anyone in here know if thats possible? or do I have to use the odometer from the new dash and just run the odometer untill the mileage is set at 19XXX???

Thanks a lot

Hey Mike. The clusters are plug & play. You should get one from the same year and drivetrain for correct speed calibration.
If the shown mileage will be an issue later when you sell the truck, you could have a reputable shop install it and note the readings on the invoice.

all the guts in the cluster interchange with each other. take the
speedo out of the old one and stick it in the new cluster with the tach.if you want to keep the same miles on it. all the gauges plug in to sockets inside the cluster housing. i hope this helps you.
ive done this operation many time. it is simple to do

im going to sound like a total idiot here but i dont care...

seeing as how it is a 97 does it have a digital odometer or is it analog?

I F its digital wouldnt the mileage be stored in the computer and display on whatever dash cluster you put in there ?

if it is analog then i cant help you because as i have already established i am an idiot and ive never messed with anything like that b4

but at any rate GOOD LUCK
