I verified all connections are correct ,,,,jacked truck up went thru process of numerous times of clocking wheels and checking fluid ,everything is smooth up to that point. Start truck barely can hold wheel as it clocks itself to extreme left,,,,,had power steering box rebuilt couple of years ago by redhead ,no miles on box......running a duel Borgeson saginaw pump for hydroboost ........any thoughts Frikken frustrating. o well
Maybe try swapping the cooler to the return line of the hydro boost and run the return from the steering gear direct back to the pump. Or just eliminate the cooler temporarily for testing. Maybe it is just too much restriction and causing the gear to react when it shouldn't? If that doesn't help, I would contact Redhead.
Thanks Wyrm73 ,,,,,,,Ill try that,,,,,,and i did write redhead to see if they ever heard of such a thing......I have friend who works on big rigs ,,,he told me a little while back when I had a larger cooler on their, which I swapped out for the small Borgeson cooler,,,,that when that happens with the big trucks its usually the box one of the ports is non operating........yipi yi ya always something Thankyou,,,,,,I just wrote redhead today,,,,,,the little cooler had a little heat to it
. High-pressure is towards the main box, and low pressure is towards the input shaft.
The sizes are not always consistent, so I go by location. Closer to the Steering shaft and it’s seal, should always be low pressure.
At least in the boxes that I have come across. Thanks UziK for your input ,,,,,I asked last week and Paul from one ton base camp schooled me on high pressure low pressure. So today Jim writes from hydratec brakes and sorta says what you said Uzik criss crossed.....And the Daniel at red head writes and says it sounds like the port has a bypass in it. And according to my pic I think Im plumbed correct ......
I know it would be a pain, but can you bypass the hydroboost for testing purposes? The hydroboost should just bypass fluid to the steering box when it isnt activated. It does look like you have it plumbed correctly.
I really think it is a power steering box issue. The box just sees the pressure, it doesnt care it came from the hboost and not directly from the pump.
I'm with your analysis on this as well Nutter,,,,,,,and Daniel with Red Head was quick to say port has a bypass .....Im going to give Daniel a write Ill let you know Thanks Nutter
Well I had to send my steering Box back to Red Head and they confirmed that their was a by-pass in the valve......So they repaired it and I received it Wensday. Today installed it; went thru the bleeding process, that Rich has posted in the past .Fired the truck up ,checked fluid ,,,,and no more Ghost Wheel. Extremely smooth. Thanks to all for your help
Glad that you got it all taken care of and I am glad I could help out. I bet I posted some bleeding instructions that I copy and pasted from some one on here. So thanks to who ever that was.
