I am going to remove the 352 and T18 all together as an assembly. I am not sure how to remove the manual shift linkage. The shop manual doesn't say. Interestingly, the reprint shop manual doesn't have a T18 chapter, only T98. The truck is covered in oil/dirt everywhere and I cant really see how to separate the linkage. I don't want to man handle something and have it break. Are there any good resources or wisdom you can bestow upon me?
What shift linkage? The T18 is a 4speed. With the transmission in neutral, unscrew the cap from the shifter housing top. Then remove the retaining pin. The lever should lift up.
Clutch linkage will be covered in grime and rust. It should have a pivot off the driver side of the bell or block, on to the top of the frame rail.
Climb under and you'll find it.
You're going to have to prevail on this to pull the engine, otherwise you will break the linkage, or the pivot, or the frame attachment, or all of the above.
