yes it comes off of the transmission, and apparently there is a vacuum hose that comes off it and goes to the intake but i dont know what hose from the intake it connects to

They make those modulators with different colored stripes depending on your altitude

And it will quickly lead to either transmission failure or hydrolocking your engine with transmission fluid (lol)
My 1977 buick electra has a bad modulator and last I moved it i barely could crank it over, it was essentially siphoning ATF to the intake and it sat long enough ATF managed to pool on the intake through the threads of the bolts of the intake
