Muffler bracket help please
1986 F150 4 x 4 300 six
Every time either I (or the muffler shop ,... the them do it once when it fell off int he middle of winter) ... put a new muffler on, we use a different hanger.
A piece of the original hanger but could not figure out what it should be.
Today I found a drawing!
If you look at page 2, detail D, there is a hanger # 5260
I have never seen one like this (though the rubber. steel bracket is still on my frame).
I can see how it slides back and forth.
I search the part number and all different brackets come up but not this one.
Any suggestions on where to find one?
Or just keep "faking it" ...
Thanks
A few years later the in let to the muffler pulled out and I knew trying to replace just the muffler would be a PITA.
I am also running EFI EXH manifolds so I replaced the whole system with a 94 F150 system front to tail pipe, less cat.
Also running a Thrush welded muffler.
I used what ever hangers I needed to support the system.
Think I only use 2 hangers. 1 just after the muffler and think 1 on the end of the tail pipe.
BTW the 94 system has larger pipes and uses wire welded to the pipe that fit into rubber donuts for hangers.
Because our trucks dont use this type of hanger I cut the wire off the pipe and used old school hangers to get the job done.
