E40d transmission shifting
96 f250 e40d was shifting out of gear into neutral around 30-40 mph. The 1st n 2nd gear shift solenoid came up as problem on code reader, replaced solenoid it didn't solve the problem. Abs light came on at same time issue occured also had erratic speedometer. I traced wiring (vss, abs n speedo) to a little (4"x4") black box module behind the glove box. I disconnected the module speedo works fine, abs light is off and trans is shifting normal now. Can I just leave that module out?

That black box is your abs computer. After 30 years, the electronics inside go bad and it drags down the vss signal, blinding the speedo and computer.
There's no harm in leaving it disconnected except you won't have anti lock brakes.
