Looking for some advice on an issue with a C6 behind a stock 460. Basically runs as it should until it gets warmed up after driving a while. After this it shifts quick into 2nd (about 5-10 mph) and then revs (flare) between the 2-3 shift. I have adjusted on the vacuum modulator and also the adjustment on the band tension. I have noticed some change on cold shifts after the modulator adjustment but not when its hot.
This is a truck that I've assembled from a 1979 F250 4WD that had suffered an engine fire. The trans was in this truck behind a 351M. I don't know how long it sat after the fire. The body and engine came from my dad's 1977 F150. The torque converter was swapped in from the 460 truck which also had a 2wd C6. I have long term plans of swapping in an NP435 and have most of the parts to make the change, except the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate which is quite expensive...
Anyway, I would welcome opinions on whether a fluid change + Lucas additive would be worth a try. I don't want to waste the money if its gonna need a rebuild.
