Well, I picked up another truck to tinker with, this 1973 F100 Explorer. It's something I can tinker on and get going;Photos are of the truck where I bought it in Salina
It looks like a fun project. It’s a nice old truck.
I will have fun with it, 100% restorable. I gotta scrounge up the under hood portion of the non A/C heater box (that holds the heater core), and a steering column, the shifter bowl bearings are shot I was told
Thanks!! I'll look at that site. I took air cleaner off this morning , and it is indeed a 2 barrel, good 'ol Motorcraft 2150. When I finally got to Salina Tues night to buy it, we looked at the engine in poor lighting, that's how we got confused on the carb. Steering column bearing is out, are those available at parts stores?
There is a diagram in the link. I've never done one (didn't even know they had one lol) but I would imagine if you walk into a parts store and tell them what truck you're working on they could help you. Might be able to find one cheaper online so if you wish to save a little you might look around online before jumping the gun at the parts store unless you need the part asap.
If you wish to know more info on these trucks might start a thread in the 73-79 F-Series forum. Few people roaming around in there that know a lot about these trucks.

I did that. I asked at O' Reilly and they said they do not stock them for liability reasons, guy said that if someone repaired their column with a part bought there, then lost control killing someone, they could be sued. I did find a few things on Ebay, will also check with LMC
I've never had an O'Reilly's do that but understandable and smart move on their end I guess. Might check RockAuto and CarParts. LMC is pretty good about that stuff but can be pricey. There MIGHT be something on Amazon but couldn't say for sure.
Chad, my friend in Nebraska has a 73 supercab. He put a 354 Perkins diesel in it in the late 70s with a binder 5 speed transmission. He still has it and it runs good. I drove it about a year ago.
