What will it haul ? 2012 F150 4x4 5.0
What will it tow? This is my first ford truck. I've always had GM trucks but figured it was time for a change. I drove a buddies F150 and was impressed with the better ride, quieter cab and torque.
I was going through the paperwork and owners manual and reached a dead end. This truck has the tow PKG with tow/haul button, electric brake and gear selector (option?). It's the super crew with 6.5' bed. I think it says in manual that it will haul 9100 lbs. What really confused me was.the window sticker and the 7350 GVWR. I anyone can clarify I'd appreciate it.
I'll try and ad a pic in a minute.
Thanks

Your GVWR is the max weight of everything on that frame. I’m sure there some durability (as in make it passed warranty period) and 0-60 time type stuff involved in where that weight cutoff is.
GVWR - curb weight of truck = payload capacity. Add in a (full?) tank of gas and I believe 150# of driver. What’s left is what you can haul.
Owner’s manual and the relevant year towing guide will outline this.
What you can tow is different.
Once again, check towing guide for that and be mindful of payload. You will almost always run out of payload before hitting tow capacity.

I'll have to try and figure out the payload comments.

I consider the F150 a half ton truck, though it should be a 3/4 ton. You can either put a half ton of people in the cab (my extended cab holds up to 6 people, that means 150#'s per person=900#s), or a half ton in the bed, or a combination. But you can't do both. Until I got my brand new '14 F150, I never understood this. I always thought people in the cab and then half a ton in the bed.

The Payload rating on my '09 is around 1900#, of course that includes, passengers, gas any extras + the actual pay load..
it is also important to point out
-GCWR (gross combined weight rating) = Truck + payload + trailer
-anything over 5000# requires a properly configured weight distributing hitch, and in MOST areas of the US: trailer brakes.
-Axle rating is another consideration.
