Door Catch Mounting area flexing

2010 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 5.4 3 Valve
Driver side door
I replaced the door catch cause it seemed the door was opening to far
When it did I could hear what sounded like a cracking of metal
I checks for cracks around the catch on the pillar side (not where it mounts to the door)
The passenger side opens and closes perfect, so I don't under stand what might be the issue with the Drivers Door
When I replaced the catch it squeaks a lot more when opening and closing I guess it is the new rubber , but I don't think it should do that
It still seems to be opening to far and I am concerned the flexing sound is fatiguing the metal
Any Ideas?
Thanks

Inspect the door checks. They are the weakest link.

If you find the door checks to be the cuplrit, I highly recommend these replacements. https://kustomfx.net/2009-2014-mp-door-checks

I bought a set from the original Northlight Labs way back about 8 or 9 years ago and it is absolutely one of the best mods I've done to my truck. The oem door check has 2 openings, barely wide enough for a toothpick to get in and out and wide (smash your door on another car or garage wall) open. Don't know which idiot engineer at Ford decided to run with it but ultimately the CEO was responsible for signing off on them. These new detents give you a 3rd (just right) opening. Wouldn't trade mine for anything.

Yep, door check. And +1 on the replacements. I also got mine yrs ago from Northlight Labs, definite improvement.

You can blame the actual engineers in accounting for that mistake 😅

I'm not certain but I think Ford put their own stink on the 15> trucks detents. They have an entire staff that does nothing but scour the net all day long looking for marketing ploys, gathering 411 from any and everyone, pretty sure we have our very own rep that pops in from time to time. We gave them the idea, and by we I mean they saw how many people were buying these mods and realized the cash cow they were missing out on.
